From the North:______ 1. Cave Creek Rd: go West on E. Sonoran Desert Dr. which changes name to W. Dove Valley Rd. (about 8 miles); turn South (left) onto North Valley Pkwy, drive 3 miles, turn East (Left) onto W. Casino Ave. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit (R) onto N Melvern Trail, drive south 0.2 miles. Turn left (East) onto W Desert Vista Trail, drive 0.4 miles to dirt parking on right.______ 2. Carefree Hwy east of 1-17: take Carefree Hwy to N. 27th Dr in Tramonto., turn south; drive 0.8miles to N. Valley Pkwy and turn south (Left) drive 3.3 miles, turn East (Left) onto W. Casino Ave. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit (R) onto N Melvern Trail, drive south 0.2 miles. Turn left (East) onto W Desert Vista Trail, drive 0.4 miles to dirt parking on right.______ From the South:______ 1. 101 W towards 1-17: Take exit 24 toward 19th Ave. Go North (Right) on N.19th Ave for 5 miles (changes name to N. Valley Pkwy) Turn East (Right) onto W Copperhead Trail (0.1 mi), Turn left onto N Melvern Trail (0.2 mi), drive past community center. Turn right (East) onto W Desert Vista Trail, drive 0.4 miles to dirt parking on right.______ 2. 101 W towards 1-17: Take exit 26 toward 7th St. Go North on N 7th St (3 miles) turns into Happy Valley Rd. Continue West for 1.9 miles to N 19th Ave. Go North (Right) on N.19th Ave for 1.8 miles (changes name to N. Valley Pkwy) Turn East (Right) onto W Copperhead Trail (0.1 mi), Turn North (left) onto N Melvern Trail (0.2 mi), drive past community center. From the north, take Dynamite/Rio Verde Drive to its end at Forest Road. Turn right and drive on Forest Road to its end. Stay on the pavement making a right turn onto McDowell Mountain Road. Drive a few miles until you see the McDowell Mountain Park entrance. From the south, take Fountain Hills Boulevard north until it turns into McDowell Mountain Road.

Directions:#1 From Phoenix, drive north via I-17 take Carefree Hwy. west (about 6 miles) just past Lake Pleasant Road the (traffic light) .1 mile is New River Rd turn north (right). The trail head is 7.2 miles on the left-hand side of the road.
Directions:#2 From the West Valley, go north on Loop 303 to Lake Pleasant Exit, turn north 2.3 miles to the light. Jog west .1 mile and turn northeast on New River Road. The trail head is 7.2 miles on the left-hand side of the road.
